Eastbound Interstate 90 has reopened at North Bend and Snoqualmie after a mudslide blocked the freeway on Wednesday. The landslide occurred around 2 p.m., causing significant delays and disruptions in traffic. After a dedicated effort from crews, the eastbound lanes were restored to normal operations by 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

As a result of the adverse weather conditions, US 2 Stevens Pass is currently closed due to debris and water obstructing the roadway. The closure spans from Index over Stevens Pass to Leavenworth, with no estimated reopening time yet available. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes until further notice.

Additionally, US 97 Blewett Pass faced a similar fate with downed trees obstructing the road overnight; however, it was successfully reopened by 2 p.m. on Thursday. On a related note, State Route 18 also experienced closures due to a mudslide but has since reopened after being blocked between the I-90 interchange and Issaquah Hobart Road.

State Route 9 near Snohomish is currently closed because of flooded roadways, extending from State Route 96 to Marsh Road, while State Routes 203 and 202 are shut down in the Carnation/Fall City area due to water on the road. Both directions of State Route 410 are also closed west of Greenwater because of water over the roadway, affecting traffic from Mud Mountain Road to 583rd Avenue East.

In an additional impact from the weather, Amtrak trains connecting Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. have been suspended on Thursday and Friday due to expected flooding of the Skagit River.

Travelers are encouraged to check the real-time travel map on the Washington State Department of Transportation’s website for the most current traffic updates and road conditions.
