The Golden State Warriors pulled off a thrilling victory against the Memphis Grizzlies, winning 114-113 in a closely contested game on Monday night. With just 19 seconds remaining, Gui Santos scored a crucial layup that gave the Warriors the lead. Moments later, Al Horford made a decisive play by stealing the ball from Cam Spencer after he collected a Memphis rebound, sealing the win for Golden State.
Despite missing star player Stephen Curry for a fourth consecutive game due to a right knee injury, which will also keep him out of the upcoming All-Star Game, the Warriors showcased a strong offensive performance. Pat Spencer led the team with 17 points and seven assists, contributing to a total of seven players finishing in double figures. Other notable contributors included Brandin Podziemski, Santos, and Horford, who each scored 16 points, while Moses Moody added 15.
The Grizzlies had led for a significant portion of the game, including a 65-57 advantage at halftime after closing the second quarter with an 11-4 run. However, the Warriors mounted a comeback in the final moments, with De’Anthony Melton bringing the team within three points and Moody reducing the deficit to just one.
Memphis saw Ty Jerome score 14 of his 19 points in the first half, while Jahmai Mashack came off the bench to contribute 17 points. The team’s reserves put up a significant 68 points, the highest amount Golden State has allowed to an opponent’s bench this season. However, the Grizzlies’ struggles continued as they lost their third consecutive game, marking the ninth defeat in their last eleven outings.
Golden State had previously defeated Memphis 131-118 in their first meeting of the season at Chase Center and has now secured eight straight home victories against the Grizzlies dating back to October 2021.
Looking ahead, the Grizzlies will travel to Denver on Wednesday to conclude a five-game road trip, while the Warriors are set to host the San Antonio Spurs on the same night. The Warriors have demonstrated resilience without Curry, showcasing the ability to adapt and overcome challenges as they push through the season.
