Warriors Fall Short Against Drew: A Battle of Resilience and Potential

The Lycoming College women’s basketball team faced a challenging matchup on Saturday, falling to Drew University with a final score of 69-48 in Landmark Conference play. Freshman Jocelyn McCracken was the standout performer for the Warriors, contributing 13 points in the game. Senior Ashley Yoh also made her mark with 10 points, while Senior Meghan Dufner added nine points along with five rebounds and three assists.

Drew University opened the game strong, scoring a 3-pointer right from the start. Despite the early lead, the Warriors responded with scoring from Yoh and McCracken. However, Drew maintained their momentum and at halftime, the Warriors found themselves trailing 42-24.

The second half saw a determined effort from McCracken and Dufner, who worked to narrow the scoring gap. McCracken showed her skills with effective scoring, including a series of layups, while Wetzel and Hartman contributed key baskets during the fourth quarter.

Drew University’s Isabelle Lalo led all scorers with 14 points, supported by Gianna Pica with 13 points and Amy Rachilla with 12 points. The game highlighted some areas for improvement for the Warriors, particularly in shooting accuracy, as they struggled with their three-point attempts, making only one out of twenty.

The Warriors are set to return to action at Lamade Gym on February 5 against Juniata College, where they will aim to bounce back and improve their conference standing. With continued teamwork and focus, there is optimism that they can build on their performances and find success in their upcoming games.

In summary, while the Warriors faced a tough defeat, the contributions from key players like McCracken, Dufner, and Yoh are promising signs for future matchups. The team’s resilience and determination will be crucial as they prepare for their next challenge.
