Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic nominee for Vice President, is scheduled to visit Savannah, Georgia, to hold a ‘Get Out the Early Vote Rally’ just a week before Election Day. This event comes at a crucial time as early voting in Georgia has seen unprecedented participation, with nearly 40 percent of active voters already casting their ballots.

As of Monday, the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office reported that over 2.9 million voters have made their choices during the early voting period, a significant increase compared to the 1.9 million who participated in-person for early voting in the 2020 elections. With 60 percent of active voters still yet to vote, the campaign aims to mobilize these individuals to head to the polls before early voting concludes or on Election Day itself.

Kevin Munoz, Senior Spokesman for Vice President Harris’ campaign, emphasized the importance of voter mobilization, stating that Governor Walz’s message will encourage voters to spread the word among their friends and family about the significance of supporting Kamala Harris for their communities.

This marks Walz’s second visit to Savannah, following an earlier trip in August alongside Vice President Harris during a two-day bus tour. The campaign highlights Savannah’s considerable influence as a major metro area in the swing state of Georgia, noting its diverse population and the positive impact of Harris’ leadership in creating jobs in the region.

The rally is scheduled to take place at Victory North in Savannah, with doors opening at 11 a.m. Attendance requires a ticket. After Savannah, Governor Walz will travel to Columbus, Georgia, for another rally. Meanwhile, Vice President Harris will deliver a closing speech in Washington, D.C., and former President Donald Trump will be rallying in Pennsylvania.

This impressive turnout for early voting reflects a heightened civic engagement among Georgians, showcasing the significant interest in the upcoming election. As candidates rally supporters in key areas, the collective effort to boost voter participation offers a hopeful sign for a robust democratic process.
