Walmart has announced a revision of some of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies across its stores in the U.S. This decision comes as part of a broader effort to ensure that every customer and associate feels welcome and valued. John Furner, the president and CEO of Walmart U.S., highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive environment during an interview with CBS Mornings.

He reiterated that the company started as a small store in Arkansas and remains dedicated to providing pathways for small suppliers to succeed, while also emphasizing a focus on selling American-made products.
As for the potential impact of political changes, particularly regarding trade policies under President-elect Donald Trump, Furner stated that Walmart is well-prepared. Trump has threatened tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China. Furner reassured customers that despite these potential changes, Walmart aims to keep prices low and continue offering value to its shoppers.
