Two popular products sold at Walmart have been recalled following urgent safety concerns issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This action is particularly significant for thousands of families across the country amid growing scrutiny regarding consumer product safety.
The items recalled include the Ozark Trail Tabletop 1-Burner Butane Camping Stove and Outdoor Master youth and children’s helmets. Reports indicate that the camping stoves have caused injuries due to explosions and fires, while the helmets do not adhere to mandatory safety standards, placing children at risk of serious head injuries or even fatalities in the event of a crash.
Walmart has confirmed that the helmet is not currently available for sale and has not been since February. Parents are advised not to use these helmets and can contact the seller for a refund. Customers who purchased the recalled campground stove should also cease its use and return it to the nearest Walmart store for a full refund.
The CPSC has indicated that approximately 201,000 Ozark Trail Tabletop 1-Burner Butane Camping Stoves (model number BG2247A1) are involved in this safety alert due to serious burn and fire hazards, following reports of 26 incidents where stoves exploded or caught fire, including 16 cases of second-degree burns. These stoves were sold at Walmart locations across the country and online from March 2023 to October 2025, priced between $8 and $45.
On a related note, roughly 24,300 Outdoor Master children’s and youth helmets, imported by Maysun Products, Inc., are also being recalled. These helmets were sold online between June 2024 and February 2025 for prices ranging from $20 to $32. Unfortunately, these helmets do not meet the essential safety standards for bicycle helmets, failing specifically in positional stability and adequate head coverage. While there have been no reports of injuries related to the helmets, the CPSC emphasizes that these deficiencies could lead to severe injuries or death.
The recalled helmet models include:
– OM-TD BIKE: A blue design featuring a dinosaur print, specifically for children’s size small (head circumference 48-52 cm), labeled “OM-TD BIKE” and “05/2024.”
– OM-KSKB: A deep green helmet with black padding, designed for youth small size (head circumference 46-52 cm), marked “OM-KSKB” and “11/2022.”
The CPSC has urged consumers to stop using the recalled camping stoves and helmets immediately and to return them to Walmart stores for refunds. Walmart has communicated its commitment to customer safety and has worked diligently with the CPSC and manufacturers to ensure prompt action is taken in response to the recall.
For any further assistance or inquiries, customers can refer to Walmart’s recall page or contact Walmart Customer Service at 800-925-6278. Helmet owners should reach out to Outdoor Master via email at care@outdoormaster.com for refund instructions.
This recall highlights the importance of vigilance when it comes to product safety, as even widely trusted brands can present risks. Consumers are reminded to stay informed about safety recalls to protect their families.
