Wallabies shake-up as Daugunu starts and Valetini returns for Perth Bledisloe test

Wallabies Pick Daugunu and Valetini for Perth Bledisloe Cup Clash

Two Fijian-born athletes, Filipo Daugunu and Rob Valetini, are set to don the Wallabies jersey for the eagerly awaited second Bledisloe Cup test against the All Blacks in Perth. Daugunu will step into the starting lineup on the wing alongside Harry Potter, while Valetini will make a welcome return from a calf injury, coming off the bench to add depth to the team.

At 30 years old, Daugunu is looking to make an impact after previously coming off the bench in the Wallabies’ hard-fought encounter against New Zealand, which ended in a 33-24 loss at Eden Park. Valetini’s reintroduction adds not only strength but also valuable experience to the squad after a period on the sidelines due to injury.

In an effort to revitalize team dynamics, coach Joe Schmidt has implemented several significant changes. Tane Edmed has been named the starting fly-half, replacing veteran playmaker James O’Connor, who will now serve as a substitute. The front row sees the return of captain Allan Alaalatoa, who will be supported in the second row by Will Skelton and Nick Frost, forming a robust partnership.

The complete starting XV includes James Slipper, Billy Pollard, Allan Alaalatoa, Nick Frost, Will Skelton, Tom Hooper, Fraser McReight, Harry Wilson, Jake Gordon, Tane Edmed, Filipo Daugunu, Len Ikitau, Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, Harry Potter, and Max Jorgensen. The bench features Josh Nasser, Tom Robertson, Taniela Tupou, Jeremy Williams, Rob Valetini, Ryan Lonergan, James O’Connor, and Josh Flook.

The Wallabies are set to take the field at Optus Stadium in Perth at 9:45 PM tomorrow, aiming to overcome their historic rivals and inject renewed enthusiasm into their campaign. The inclusion of Daugunu and Valetini has sparked hope among fans for a strong performance that combines the dynamic potential of emerging talent with the invaluable experience of veteran players. As the teams gear up for this iconic rugby clash, the atmosphere is expected to be charged with excitement and determination, promising an exhilarating display of skill on the field.
