Waiting No More: Eric Allen Enters the Hall of Fame

Eric Allen, who last graced the NFL field in 2001, was recently honored with his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2025. This milestone came in his 24th year of eligibility, marking the fourth-longest wait for a player selected by the modern-era committee.

The Class of 2025, which Allen joined alongside prominent figures such as Jared Allen, Sterling Sharpe, and Antonio Gates, celebrated his storied 14-year career. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1988 to 1994, followed by stints with the New Orleans Saints (1995-1997) and the Oakland Raiders (1998-2001). Throughout his career, he amassed an impressive 54 interceptions during regular play, adding four more in the postseason, making him the only cornerback in history with a total of 58 interceptions and nine pick-sixes.

In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Allen expressed his gratitude: “I want to thank the Hall of Fame committee and the NFL. I am deeply grateful for this incredible honor,” he stated.
