Waimanu 7s Moves to Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium as Flame Tree Sponsorship Boosts Growth

The 2025 Flame Tree Waimanu 7s tournament is poised to make its mark in history as it shifts to the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva for the first time. Traditionally held at the Sawani Primary School grounds, this relocation signifies a major development for the tournament, driven largely by the generous support from its naming rights sponsor, Flame Tree Developments (Fiji) Limited.

Last Thursday, Glenn Wakeham, the director of Flame Tree, presented a cheque for $44,540 to the tournament organizers, a contribution that played a pivotal role in securing the stadium venue. In his speech, Wakeham highlighted the importance of community development and expressed his pleasure in witnessing the positive outcomes of progress in local villages and youth engagement.

Alipate Navuso, the tournament director, shared that the decision to move to Suva was influenced by the tournament’s growth over the years, reflecting its evolution into a more prominent event. He extended his sincere thanks to Flame Tree for their essential partnership in facilitating this significant transition.

The Waimanu 7s is set to kick off this Friday and will continue through Saturday, promising an exhilarating weekend of rugby action. This year’s tournament underscores Fiji’s commitment to advancing sports, enhancing community involvement, and spotlighting local talent, signaling a bright future for rugby in the region.
