Volvo has officially launched the EX60, its latest electric vehicle, following an exciting teaser campaign that featured an exclusive reveal with Ars. The EX60 promises an impressive driving range of up to 400 miles, based on the US EPA test cycle, and supports rapid charging at rates of up to 400 kW. Key technological features include powerful computer hardware sourced from Nvidia and Qualcomm, which will facilitate advanced driver assistance systems and the introduction of a new AI personal assistant.

The EX60 will be available in three different powertrain variants: P6, P10, and P12, alongside rugged EX60 Cross Country models, which are designed for off-road capabilities. The entry-level P6 variant boasts a single motor that generates 369 horsepower (275 kW) and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque, exclusively powering the rear wheels. The vehicle is equipped with an 80 kWh usable battery pack (83 kWh gross), capable of charging at rates up to 320 kW, allowing for a rapid DC charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 18 minutes.

Notably, the EX60 will be the first Volvo model available in the US to feature a built-in North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. The EPA-estimated range for the P6 model stands at 310 miles (490 km) with 20-inch wheels; however, the range decreases by 10 miles (16 km) with 21-inch wheels and by 20 miles (32 km) with 22-inch wheels. Additionally, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds, while maintaining a speed limit of 112 mph (180 km/h), consistent with Volvo’s safety standards.

In an electrifying move towards sustainability, the EX60 represents Volvo’s commitment to innovation and environmentally friendly transportation. With advancements in technology and performance, this new model underscores Volvo’s dedication to leading the automotive industry into the electric future.
