The AVP volleyball tournament took an exciting turn on Saturday, setting the stage for the semifinals, while NCAA volleyball also featured a packed schedule. In the notable events during the AVP Chicago Open, a double red-card incident involved players Chase Budinger and Trevor Crabb. The Sunday matchups for the men include fourth-seeded Budinger teaming up with Miles Evans against the third-seeded pair of Taylor Crabb and Taylor Sander. Additionally, the ninth-seeded duo of Tim Bomgren and Troy Field will face off against second-seeded Andy Benesh and Miles Partain.

On the women’s side, top-seeded Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss will take on second-seeded Kelly Cheng and Sara Hughes, creating a noteworthy clash of USA Olympians. The sixth-seeded Rodriguez, who played alongside Kloth and Nuss at LSU, will compete against the third-seeded Canadian Olympians Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson. In the red-card match, Budinger and Evans triumphed over Crabb and Theo Brunner with scores of 19-21, 22-20, and 15-12, but were later eliminated by Bomgren and Field.

The AVP semifinals will be streamed live on BallyLIVE, with the finals scheduled to air on CW. In NCAA volleyball, all eyes are on Milwaukee, where the top-ranked Texas team, the reigning champion, faces third-ranked Wisconsin at 11:30 a.m. Central time on Fox, followed by an afternoon match with No. 18 Minnesota against No. 5 Stanford at 2 p.m. on FS1. In NCAA football, however, the scores painted a contrasting picture, with top teams achieving lopsided victories.

As Sunday’s NCAA volleyball matches commence, various matchups are set, including Georgia versus Florida State, Tennessee against Louisville, Penn State playing Temple, UC Davis matching up with Purdue, and Florida taking on Michigan State. Notable performances from Saturday included a thrilling five-set victory for Cal, with Maggie Li notching 24 kills. Florida State also impressed, achieving a .324 hitting percentage in a sweep, bolstered by Taylor Head’s 15 kills. Boston College and Miami each secured sweeps against their opponents, contributing to a day filled with high-level volleyball action.
