Russian vlogger Vitaly Zdorovetskiy has been moved from the Bureau of Immigration to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in the Philippines, where he faces multiple criminal charges. The transfer occurred on June 11, 2025, following his earlier arrest on April 3 for being classified as an undesirable alien.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has denied Zdorovetskiy’s request for bail, despite his assurances that he would not evade deportation. Immigration Commissioner Joel Viado emphasized that the integrity of immigration laws must be upheld and that foreign nationals who violate these laws should face appropriate consequences.
Zdorovetskiy’s arrest was part of a broader investigation into a series of troubling incidents, including harassment of local residents and theft of property. Notably, he was filmed disturbing a security guard and an elderly woman, along with accusations of stealing items like an electric fan from a restaurant and a tricycle.
Despite Zdorovetskiy’s claim of legal residency in the U.S., both the Russian and American governments have declined to accept him back, complicating his situation further. As he remains in BJMP custody, his criminal cases will be addressed first before any deportation proceedings can commence.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges and complexities faced by foreign nationals in the Philippines, reminding both locals and visitors that adherence to immigration laws is crucial for maintaining public trust and safety. Moreover, the resolution of Zdorovetskiy’s legal issues serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting local customs and laws, which can ultimately foster a more harmonious relationship between foreign visitors and the local community.
