Vince McMahon, the former chairman of WWE, was involved in a significant three-car accident on Route 15 in Westport, Connecticut last Thursday morning, which has led to misdemeanor charges against him.
A crash report from TMZ Sports detailed that McMahon’s 2024 Bentley rear-ended a 2023 BMW 430 at approximately 9 AM before striking a wooden median guardrail. The crash deployed the airbags in both the Bentley and the BMW, with debris affecting a third vehicle, a southbound Ford Fusion. Fortunately, despite the serious property damage, including approximately 30 feet of damaged guardrail, no injuries were reported as all drivers were wearing seatbelts.
McMahon faces misdemeanor charges for reckless driving and following too closely, and he is set to appear in court next month to address these allegations.
Interestingly, this incident coincided with the passing of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, who died of cardiac arrest at the age of 71. In a subsequent tribute, McMahon described Hogan as “the greatest WWE Superstar of ALL TIME” and noted his role as a pioneer in transforming wrestling into a global phenomenon.
This accident marks a continuation of McMahon’s recent legal challenges; earlier this year, he was fined over $1.7 million by the Securities and Exchange Commission for undisclosed hush money payments and resigned from WWE’s parent company TKO following accusations of sexual assault.
Representatives for McMahon have yet to respond to inquiries regarding the accident.
While this situation certainly highlights the challenges McMahon is currently facing, it also serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the resilience of the individuals involved, given that no serious injuries occurred in the collision.
