The 2025 Fiji Golf Open tournament, held at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, Suva, concluded successfully on Sunday after three days filled with intense competition. Vikrant Chandra emerged as the Professionals Champion, while Shakeel Pillay and Raina Kumar claimed the overall gross titles in the Men’s and Women’s categories, respectively.
Kicking off on Fiji Day, the tournament took place under overcast skies, attracting participants from across Fiji, as well as competitors from Australia and New Zealand. This year’s event saw a remarkable turnout of 130 golfers, highlighting the growing interest and enthusiasm for the sport in Fiji.
Alvin Nair, a member of Fiji Golf, emphasized the event’s importance by saying, “This is the biggest tournament that the Fiji Golf Club organizes, and it spans three days.” He praised the condition of the golf course, which was well-maintained and dry, providing an ideal setting for players to enjoy their games to the fullest.
Significant support from numerous sponsors, including VONU Beer, Coca-Cola, Crest Chicken, Tappoos, EasyPar Golf, and Crowne Plaza, contributed to the tournament’s success. Now in its 55th year, the Fiji Golf Open has shown impressive growth, reflecting the sport’s increasing popularity in the region.
The achievements witnessed at the Fiji Golf Open complement a series of significant golf events in Fiji, such as the Denarau Golf Club championships, which continue to draw a diverse range of both local and international players.
