Vikings Face Injury Blow: Addison’s Ankle Woes Amidst Troubling Summer

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison sustained an ankle injury during Wednesday’s joint practices with the Cleveland Browns, according to head coach Kevin O’Connell. However, the injury is not deemed serious at this time.

The injury occurred as Addison attempted to make a contested catch during drills on the first day of the scheduled practices. He was ultimately carted off the field. O’Connell noted that Addison is unlikely to take part in practice on Thursday but does not anticipate a lengthy absence.

Addison’s exit came shortly after O’Connell announced that rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy would miss his entire debut season due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. This setback adds to a troubling summer for the Vikings, which has been marred by injuries and tragic events.

Earlier in July, rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson tragically lost his life in a car accident. Additionally, second-year corner Mekhi Blackmon has been sidelined with a torn ACL sustained on the first day of training camp, and veteran corner Shaquill Griffin has not participated since straining his hamstring on the second day of camp.

Tight end T.J. Hockenson is still recovering from a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee and may begin the season on injured reserve.
