Vikings’ Darrisaw Out for Season: What’s Next?

Minnesota Vikings left tackle Christian Darrisaw will miss the remainder of the season following a knee injury sustained during the team’s “Thursday Night Football” game against the Los Angeles Rams. The injury occurred with 35 seconds remaining in the first half when the Vikings opted to run a play from their own 3-yard line. During running back Aaron Jones’ 2-yard run, Darrisaw’s left leg was rolled up by Rams rookie safety Jaylen McCollough.

After the play, Darrisaw fell to the ground and immediately clutched his left knee. Medical staff attended to him on the field before helping him walk back to the locker room, where he struggled to put weight on his injured leg. The Vikings officially ruled him out for the remainder of the game due to the injury and announced the following day that he would require season-ending surgery.

After the injury, offensive lineman David Quessenberry took Darrisaw’s place for the final play of the half, which was a quarterback kneel. Head coach Kevin O’Connell later confirmed to the media that it was a left knee injury. On Friday, he expressed disappointment that the imaging did not show a less severe injury. “He did sustain a significant knee injury to his left knee and will require season-ending surgery. He will go on injured reserve today,” O’Connell stated.
