Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking, recently shared a video recounting the significant accomplishments his company achieved in 2025. Over the past year, Viking has been actively expanding its fleet, notably with the introduction of the Viking Vesta, their newest ocean ship, which can accommodate 998 guests. The vessel was officially named in Split, Croatia, during a celebration held on June 30, 2025.

In addition to the ocean fleet, Viking also enhanced its river cruise offerings, unveiling nine new riverboats throughout the year. This notable expansion included a simultaneous naming ceremony, which celebrated a historic achievement for Viking—the launch of their 100th vessel. “Today Viking has more than 100 ships across our river, ocean and expedition fleet. Whatever in the world you would like to explore, you can do so in Viking comfort,” Hagen emphasized.

Looking ahead, Hagen announced plans to introduce new destinations, including river cruises in India. He expressed pride in Viking’s first full year as a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange, confirming that this transition has not altered the company’s foundational values of kindness, honesty, hard work, and thankfulness.

Viking’s commitment extends beyond travel, with ongoing support for educational, cultural, and scientific institutions. A highlight from the past year was becoming the main sponsor of the Norway National Soccer Team Academy and the country’s youth national teams, providing young athletes with a platform for development. “It is meaningful for us to contribute to the next generation of talent. At Viking, we believe that, with hard work, nothing is impossible,” Hagen remarked.

As Viking enters its 28th year of business, the company is gearing up for further growth with plans to introduce two new ocean ships, the Viking Mira and Viking Libra. The latter is particularly noteworthy as it will be the world’s first cruise ship partially powered by hydrogen fuel cells, allowing for zero emissions while operating in the environmentally sensitive Norwegian Fjords. Hagen expressed pride in Viking’s longstanding commitment to reducing fuel consumption and harmful emissions.

The company is witnessing strong demand, with approximately 70 percent of its 2026 bookings already made, along with the opening of departure dates for all of 2027. “I would recommend booking early for the widest selection of choices,” he advised.

As Viking looks toward the future, Hagen reflected on the importance of travel, believing that guests return home as ambassadors for the countries they visit. “These cultural exchanges make us kinder to one another. It may sound simple, but we truly believe that the world is a slightly better place as a result of our travels,” he concluded.

With an impressive year behind them and ambitious plans for the future, Viking is poised to continue making a positive impact in the travel industry, promoting exploration and cultural understanding.
