Victor Clarke Bowls Championship: New Singles Champions Emerge in Lautoka

Amit Prasad and Elizabeth Moceiwai from Suva Bowls showcased their exceptional skills by winning the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively at the 2025 Bred Bank-sponsored Victor Clarke tournament held in Lautoka last weekend. The competition was marked by thrilling matches and unexpected outcomes, highlighting the talent present among participating bowlers.

Amit Prasad claimed the men’s singles championship after a hard-fought victory over Lautoka’s Yusuf Khan in the final. The men’s tournament was particularly eventful, with several top-seeded players being eliminated earlier than anticipated in the elimination rounds. Quarter-finalists included notable names such as David Aitcheson, Munesh Kumar, Dan Vinod, Surend Prasad, Simon Ratnam, and Semesa Naiseruvati. In a decisive semifinal, Amit bested David Aitcheson, while Yusuf Khan secured his place in the final by defeating Simon Ratnam.

On the women’s side, Elizabeth Moceiwai emerged victorious by overcoming Bowls Lautoka’s Benau Bennion in the final match of the singles competition. The semifinals featured a strong lineup, including Elizabeth, Aki Khan, Benau Bennion, and Dinusha Chandima, with both finalists celebrating their first appearances in the gold-medal match.

David Bennion, the games controller, expressed his satisfaction with the tournament’s turnout and the high-level performances exhibited by all participants. He remarked, “It was a good competition with a wonderful turnout from all bowlers.” The enthusiastic turnout and the introduction of new talent in the finals contributed to making the 2025 Victor Clarke tournament a resounding success.
