Verizon’s $60 5G Home Internet Lands at Target Nationwide

Verizon has introduced a new $60 5G Home Internet plan available for customers at Target stores nationwide. This offering allows shoppers to sign up for the service in person, as well as online. The plan is part of Verizon’s strategy to expand its reach through its subsidiary TracFone, which initially rolled out the service on Target.com.

For a monthly fee of $60, customers will also need to purchase a router priced at $69.99. The Internet service operates on Verizon’s cellular network and is a prepaid plan that includes unlimited data, ensuring users won’t incur extra charges for exceeding data limits. Typical download speeds range between 20 and 200 Mbps, dropping to 20 to 50 Mbps for those in 4G LTE coverage zones.

As part of the launch, customers are encouraged to verify their area’s eligibility by entering their address on TracFone’s website. The plan’s availability exclusively through Target marks a new retail partnership for Verizon, enhancing accessibility for consumers.

In a competitive landscape, T-Mobile has also announced a similar offering called “Home MINTernet” through its subsidiary Mint Mobile, which starts as low as $30 per month, provided customers already have a Mint phone plan. Without a plan, the price increases but still reflects a competitive edge compared to traditional cable Internet options.

Analysts highlight that although Verizon’s new home internet is not necessarily more affordable than their existing services, it presents a straightforward option for customers, emphasizing convenience and the potential for cost-saving compared to traditional internet services. With prices being competitive as consumers seek affordable internet solutions, both companies aim to attract budget-conscious households looking for flexible home internet solutions.

As the market continues to evolve, these developments signify a shift towards more accessible options in the telecommunications space, reflecting changing consumer needs for broadband services.
