Vanuatu DJ Wilz Teases Fiji Debut at Wan Fire Festival in Suva

Vanuatu’s celebrated DJ Wilz is set to grace the stage in Fiji for the first time at the eagerly awaited Wan Fire Music Festival in Suva this weekend. With familial ties to both Vanuatu and Fiji, DJ Wilz expressed the dual emotions of honor and pressure upon receiving the invitation to perform in a land that holds personal significance.

“Certainly, there’s a lot of pressure,” DJ Wilz noted. “Fiji is not only a well-established hub for music but is also part of my heritage. Performing here for the first time brings its own set of expectations.”

Arriving a month earlier for preparation and training with a vocal coach, Wilz has seen his confidence grow, readying him for the festival. Performing alongside iconic Pacific artists, including Stan Walker, Wilz finds both inspiration and humility in the prospect.

Inside Out’s bass guitarist Timothy Solomon shared insights into the band’s preparations, promising high energy and good vibes. Their performance will uniquely blend traditional Fijian meke with contemporary rhythms, adding a local flair to the showcase.

The Heineken Wan Fire Music Festival offers an enriching experience not only through its compelling artist lineup but also through its cultural significance. The event aims to celebrate unity and cultural diversity, fostering positive vibes and a vibrant live music scene in Fiji. The festival, organized by Spinning Village and Punjas Fiji, is set to light up Buckhurst Park in Suva this Saturday, with tickets available through TicketMax for those eager to join this musical celebration.

This festival promises to not only entertain but also strengthen the cultural ties and artistic spirit within the Pacific community, marking another milestone in Fiji’s burgeoning music scene.
