At a recent Fiji National University (FNU) Grand Alumni Fundraiser Ball, Tui Macuata and FNU Foundation Patron, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, highlighted the profound impact of every dollar entrusted to the FNU Foundation on the dreams of students in need. Emphasizing the community-oriented spirit of FNU, Ratu Wiliame underscored the university’s commitment to empowering education and building future leaders.
Ratu Wiliame poignantly compared the FNU Foundation to the traditional concept of “vanua” in uniting communities to uplift young minds. Earlier, Ratu Wiliame himself pledged $10,000 to inspire others to invest in the education of Fijian youths. Emphasizing the cultural tradition of “solesolevaki” or collective giving, such efforts aim to bridge educational gaps, particularly in remote areas, providing resources to ensure that geographic and financial barriers do not impede students’ academic aspirations.
