Vanna White, who has been a beloved presence on “Wheel of Fortune” for over four decades, recently opened up about her initial reaction to the retirement of her longtime co-host, Pat Sajak. Sajak, who has been at the helm of the popular game show since 1981, announced his retirement for 2024, prompting White to consider her own future on the show.
In an interview with E! News, the 68-year-old revealed, “When Pat decided he was going to retire, I had to make a decision. Working with someone for that long, I felt like I should maybe go with him.” However, after much thought, White concluded that she still has a passion for her role. “I’m just not ready to retire yet. I’m having fun. I feel good. I feel healthy,” she shared, indicating her desire to continue contributing to the show for the time being.
White joined “Wheel of Fortune” in 1982, just a year after Sajak began as host. Now, she is embracing her new partnership with Ryan Seacrest, who took over as host following Sajak’s departure. The two already share a friendly rapport, having known each other for two decades. “We do have some background friendship. We get along great,” White noted, expressing optimism about their chemistry on set. “He’s such a nice guy and he’s so professional and hardworking, and we just gel. This is our second year together, and I feel like it’s been forever. It all worked out just perfect.”
As White continues her journey on “Wheel of Fortune,” it seems viewers can look forward to more exciting moments with her and Seacrest, reinforcing the show’s enduring charm and connection with its audience.
