Mark Guiducci has been appointed as the inaugural global editorial director of Vanity Fair, taking on a critical role overseeing the magazine’s creative and editorial direction across multiple markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Spain. His appointment follows the announcement by Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Radhika Jones, who plans to leave the publication.
Guiducci, a New York resident, is set to begin his new role on June 30. Before this appointment, he served as the creative editorial director at Vogue since 2020, where he was instrumental in launching Vogue World and managing content spanning various mediums, including print, digital, and live events.
Expressing his excitement, Guiducci remarked, “The world today is spinning faster than ever… At the center of it all, documenting the stakes and the spectacle, is Vanity Fair.” He reflected on his journey, stating, “To return now, fifteen years later, as global editorial director… is the honor of my career.”
Prior to his tenure at Vogue, Guiducci was the editor-in-chief of GARAGE, where he successfully led its digital transformation. Interestingly, he began his career at Vanity Fair as an assistant to the managing editor, accentuating his deep connection with the publication.
Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s chief creative officer, praised Guiducci, emphasizing his dynamic approach to editing and the potential for growth at Vanity Fair under his leadership.
This new appointment marks an exciting chapter for Vanity Fair as it seeks to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing media landscape. The focus on capturing the intersection of culture, politics, and society will likely position the magazine to resonate with its audience in innovative ways.
