Vanderbilt University has made a significant mark in college football this season by achieving wins over both Auburn and Alabama for the first time since 1955. The Commodores secured their sixth victory of the year with a 17-7 win over Auburn, further solidifying their football prowess in the state of Alabama.

In an exciting game on Saturday, the score was tied at 7-7 at halftime. Vanderbilt then took the lead with a field goal, making it 10-7 late in the third quarter. The Commodores extended their advantage when Eli Stowers caught a four-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Diego Pavia, bringing the score to 17-7 with just over four minutes remaining.

This victory over Auburn marks Vanderbilt’s first win against the Tigers since 2012, when they triumphed 17-13. It also adds to their earlier remarkable victory against then-No. 1 Alabama, which was their first win over the Crimson Tide since 1984. The Commodores’ accomplishment is even more impressive given that they have only managed two wins against both teams in the last 24 attempts since 1955.

With this season’s success, Vanderbilt is headed to a bowl game for the first time since 2018. A seventh win would also ensure the Commodores a winning season for the first time since 2013, when they achieved a record of 9-4 under former head coach James Franklin.

This season marks a turning point for Vanderbilt football, offering hope for fans and players alike. It reflects the potential of the program, signaling that the Commodores are on the rise. As they continue to build momentum, there is a sense of optimism about their future performances and achievements.
