Concerns have emerged regarding snow levels for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, as raised by Johan Eliasch, president of the International Ski Federation (FIS). Eliasch pointed out challenges with the production of artificial snow, attributing the delays to the Italian government’s issues in releasing the necessary funds to event organizers.
Key venues for the Winter Olympics, including Livigno Snow Park and Aerials and Moguls Park, are now under scrutiny as preparations continue. However, Livigno’s mayor, Remo Galli, has addressed these concerns, indicating that the delays stemmed from a technical issue, specifically the replacement of a valve. Galli reassured the public and stakeholders that this was resolved within the planned timeline, and he confirmed that all snow-making machines are now in operation.
“We’ll have all the snow we need to have a great Olympics. In fact, we’ll have much more,” Galli stated confidently to the Italian news agency Ansa. He also highlighted favorable weather conditions expected in the coming days, with temperatures set to drop significantly, which will aid in snow production.
The mayor’s optimism signals a positive outlook for the successful execution of the skiing events, reinforcing the commitment of local officials to deliver an exceptional experience for athletes and spectators alike.
