Valencia CF, in collaboration with the Fundació VCF, is showing its commitment to cancer awareness and research as part of World Cancer Day, observed every February 4. This year, the focus is on the pivotal role of scientific research in improving cancer treatment and achieving a 70% survival rate by the year 2030, as highlighted by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).
To support this initiative, Valencia CF invited two organizations to Mestalla under the club’s ‘ADN Mestalla Solidari’ program, which was initiated during the 2021/22 season. The Valencian Institute of Oncology (IVO) will attend the Copa match against Athletic Club, while Las Triples, an organization dedicated to breast cancer awareness, will be present at the LALIGA match against Real Madrid CF.
In a display of solidarity, both the men’s and women’s first teams donned ‘Bracelets of Hope’ in their recent matches, advocating for the AECC’s goal of transforming the narrative around cancer from one of mourning to one of hope and survival. The green ribbon symbolizes the potential lives saved by reaching the ambitious survival rate target.
Annually, Valencia CF and the Fundació VCF engage with the AECC–Comunitat Valenciana to support its fundraising efforts, with a campaign planned for May. Additionally, various local organizations linked to cancer support and research, including Amunt contra el Cáncer, Dragon Boat Marina Valencia, Fundación Pequeño Deseo, Fundación Aladina, INCLIVA, Casa Ronald, and Aspanion, have participated in the ‘ADN Mestalla Solidari’ initiative, helping to raise awareness of their vital contributions to the community.
Through these efforts, Valencia CF demonstrates a deep commitment to social responsibility, offering a platform for hope and highlighting the importance of community action in the fight against cancer.
