Esita Lobe has recently joined the South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) program, becoming part of a vibrant network focusing on economic empowerment and community development. Along with 32 other women, Esita’s involvement in SPBD represents a significant step towards enhancing her personal and financial growth, enriching not only her life but potentially the lives of those around her.
Operating a small food stall in Valelevu, Esita serves a diverse menu that includes roti parcels and homemade juices. This business is crucial for her family’s income and daily needs. Despite her early stage with SPBD, she credits the program with expanding her financial literacy. “Through the trainings and group meetings, I have learned how to better manage my money, budget wisely, and plan for the future,” she shared, reflecting on the transformative influence of the program.
Teamwork is a foundational aspect of the SPBD initiative, and Esita acknowledges the complexities that come with working in a larger group. “Sometimes, aligning everyone’s goals and efforts can be difficult, but we are committed to finding ways to support each other and grow collectively,” she explained, emphasizing the need for cohesion among members.
To ensure the sustainability of their group and enhance collaborative efforts, Esita highlighted a strategy where members contribute a portion of their earnings toward a group subscription. This fund is pivotal in supporting various club operations, group activities, and emergency needs. “This approach not only fosters financial responsibility but also strengthens the spirit of shared ownership and support among the members,” she stated, underscoring the importance of mutual aid.
Esita remains hopeful despite the challenges faced. “With the practical financial knowledge we’re gaining, it has inspired us to continue building our business and working with our group toward greater success,” she shared. Her optimism reflects a strong belief in the potential of collaboration and perseverance to drive meaningful change in their lives and the wider community. This collective journey not only nurtures individual businesses but also promotes a brighter, more prosperous future for the group as a whole.
