A man from Valelevu is recovering from injuries sustained during a disturbing incident that left his family members and a colleague harmed. The victim, identified as Zaheen Ali, reported that he and his family were attacked by an individual believed to have been under the influence of alcohol. The altercation occurred on Sunday night in the Daniva area, transforming what was supposed to be a calm evening into a terrifying ordeal.
Zaheen described the violent attack, emphasizing the distress caused to his family, including his wife and young children, aged three and five. “He started violently abusing me, assaulting me, and my wife, who was inside, along with my three-year-old and my five-year-old children. The aggression he displayed was overwhelming, completely disregarding the presence of my kids,” he recounted.
The chaos led to explicit threats being made against Ali’s family, further amplifying their fear. His eldest son expressed his concern, stating, “Daddy, I don’t want to go outside because he might come back and he might kill me,” highlighting the psychological toll the incident has taken on the children.
In addition, one of Ali’s employees, Ro Miriama Rokoura, shared her experience of the attack, which escalated after a disagreement. She detailed being assaulted, noting, “She grabbed my hand while her husband continuously punched me and threw my phone away.”
The alarming nature of the event has prompted a report to the Valelevu Police Station, which is currently investigating. This troubling incident underscores the broader issue of violence within families and communities and has ignited discussions about the need for enhanced safety measures and support systems for victims. As the community seeks healing and justice, there is a collective hope that similar incidents can be avoided in the future, fostering a safer environment for all.
