An earlier bill that would have allowed for some exemptions was passed by the Senate but ultimately defeated in the House.
The rescinded memorandum had instructed county superintendents to honor previously issued vaccine exemptions and to inform parents that students with such exemptions would not be allowed to enroll in public schools for the fall. However, in a subsequent email, Blatt announced the withdrawal of the memo, emphasizing collaboration with the governor’s office to provide clearer guidelines in accordance with the executive order.
