UTEP football coach Scotty Walden fondly remembers becoming acquainted with the Miner program by playing them on EA Sports College Football, where he reportedly experienced more success than the team often did in reality.
The allure of UTEP is evident in the 2025 version of the game, which showcased a stadium entrance clip on Instagram. In this clip, the Miners take to the Sun Bowl field for a game against Charlotte. Although UTEP faced Charlotte in the Sun Bowl in 2019, it’s uncertain if they will ever clash again.
The clip reveals a packed stadium with enthusiastic fans in body paint. The announcer proclaims, “Welcome to the West Texas town of El Paso.” As the Miners proceed down the tunnel, the backs of Sione Tonga’uiha and Dorian Hopkins are prominently visible. Emari White appears to lead the team onto the field, flanked by flag bearers and the marching band, to the wild cheers of Miner fans.
EA Sports College Football 25 is set to launch on Friday, July 19. The cover features Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Michigan’s Donovan Edwards, and Colorado’s Travis Hunter Jr., with the Cotton Bowl serving as the backdrop.
The game will be released worldwide on July 19, 2024, with a 3-day early access period available starting July 16, 2024, for those who purchase the Deluxe Edition. Preorders are open until July 18, 2024.
EA Sports College Football 25 will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
The last edition of an EA Sports college football video game, NCAA Football 14, was released just before the 2013 college football season.
The return of EA Sports College Football games follows the Supreme Court ruling in the NCAA v. Alston case, which allows players to be compensated for their name, image, and likeness. This ruling overturned the previous decision in Keller vs. Electronic Arts Inc. (2013), which had halted the games.
The cover athletes for EA Sports College Football 25 are Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, and Michigan running back Donovan Edwards.
