The University of South Florida men’s golf team has made a notable entrance into the new season, debuting at No. 25 in the first National Collegiate Golf Rankings released today. The Bulls have started the season strong, finishing in the top 10 in their initial two tournaments. They began their campaign at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate, where they secured a tie for sixth place, showcasing different golfers leading the score in each round. Following that, USF achieved a top-five finish at the Windon Memorial Classic, where they outperformed both No. 15 Illinois and No. 18 Pepperdine. The team’s collaboration has resulted in impressive early-season outcomes, with two top-10 finishes and an additional top-15 finish, setting the stage for further success. The Bulls are scheduled to compete again on October 28th at the FAU Invitational and are eager to continue their momentum and improve their ranking.
The USF men’s golf program has a rich history, boasting 19 conference titles and 19 All-America recognitions. The team has claimed six American Athletic Conference Tournament championships, achieving a wire-to-wire victory in four consecutive tournaments from 2015 to 2018. The program has celebrated four individual conference champions, including Albin Bergstrom in 2021, and has made nine consecutive NCAA Regional appearances, highlighted by a sixth-place finish in the NCAA Championship match-play in 2015. The Bulls are currently under the guidance of a coach who has earned the title of American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year five times since 2014. Under this leadership, the team has celebrated 24 tournament victories, including three so far in the 2023-24 season, marking a record in the program’s history.
