The University of South Florida (USF) Athletics program celebrated an impressive year, marked by various championship victories across multiple sports. Men’s basketball claimed the school’s first-ever American Athletic Conference regular-season title, while men’s track and field dominated both the indoor and outdoor American championships. Men’s golf also added to the success by winning its sixth American conference championship. Volleyball achieved a historic feat by winning its first-ever regular-season American title and its first conference title since 2002. Additionally, the All Girl Cheer team secured two national titles at the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) College Nationals.

In a message to the USF community, Vice President for Athletics, Michael Kelly, reflected on a remarkable 2024 for USF Athletics, highlighting significant achievements, including a victory in the Hawai’i Bowl against San Jose State, where senior wide receiver Sean Atkins became the program’s all-time leading receiver. The year was further distinguished by groundbreaking for a new $340 million on-campus stadium and the induction of notable figures into the USF Athletics Hall of Fame.

Kelly also emphasized the academic successes of USF student-athletes, noting their consistent academic achievements with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for 20 consecutive semesters and record-breaking metrics in the latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) report.

As the new year approaches, Kelly urged the community to support spring sports, with particular excitement for the women’s lacrosse team debuting on February 7. He encouraged fans to attend upcoming games for men’s and women’s basketball, inviting them to start the new year with the Bulls.

This positive reflection on USF Athletics serves as a reminder of the hard work and dedication of student-athletes and coaches, reinforcing the growing sense of community pride surrounding the university’s sports programs.

In summary, USF Athletics enjoyed a historic year filled with successes on and off the field, fostering a thriving sports community and academic excellence. As the new year rolls in, the enthusiasm for what lies ahead continues to grow, suggesting a promising future for USF sports.
