USDA Issues Beef Jerky Recall Over Allergens: What You Need to Know!

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a recall of beef jerky products manufactured by Springville Meat & Cold Storage due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, as disclosed on June 3. The recall involves approximately 15,388 pounds of various heat-treated shelf-stable ready-to-eat beef jerky and snack stick products, along with elk, venison, and buffalo jerky that underwent voluntary inspections.

Inspection officials uncovered that the Worcestershire sauce used in the jerky contained anchovies, a common allergen that was not listed on the packaging. The products were produced from May 30, 2023, to May 30, 2025, and carry the establishment number “EST. 20528” within the USDA’s inspection mark. They have been distributed to retail locations across the country.

Currently, there have been no reported illnesses stemming from the consumption of the affected products. However, consumers who have bought these items are advised to refrain from eating them, and instead, either dispose of the jerky or return it to the retailer.
