Authorities in Fishersville, Virginia, have identified Shanice Chante Davison, a 35-year-old resident of Evergreen, Alabama, as the suspect responsible for the recent kidnapping of her three children. The investigation indicates that Davison may be traveling with the children and is likely heading back to Alabama. As a result, she faces three counts of felony abduction.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized that the safety of the children is their primary concern and is collaborating with law enforcement agencies across state lines to locate them. Virginia State Police have issued an AMBER Alert for the missing children: Jai’Marcus Lewis, age 10, Ja’Miyah Lewis, age 8, and Ja’Liyah Lewis, age 6. They are believed to be in “extreme danger” and may be with their mother.
The investigation began after a 911 call was made at 8:27 a.m. by the children’s legal guardian, reporting that the children had been taken while waiting for the bus. It was reported that a black four-door vehicle, possibly a newer model Nissan Sentra, approached and took the children. Jai’Miyah and Ja’Liyah were last seen wearing pink jackets, while Jai’Marcus was in a black and dark blue jacket with neon zippers.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of Davison or the children to come forward and contact Investigator Ron Reid at 540-245-5333. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 800-322-2017. Law enforcement has cautioned the public not to approach Davison or the children if spotted, but to instead alert authorities.
Sheriff Donald Smith has reassured the community that this investigation is a top priority, with a strong commitment to safely reunite the children with their legal guardians.
This situation highlights the ongoing challenges related to family custody disputes and children’s safety. It also underscores the importance of community vigilance and the role of law enforcement in protecting vulnerable individuals. As efforts continue to locate the children and ensure their safety, there is hope that they will be rescued soon and returned to a secure environment.
