Aaron Rodgers, the four-time NFL MVP and quarterback for the New York Jets, is set to star in a three-hour docuseries titled “Aaron Rodgers: Enigma,” which will premiere on Netflix on December 17. This release comes just eight days before Netflix makes its debut in live sports, showcasing two NFL games on Christmas Day, although neither game features the Jets.

The announcement of the Rodgers series is part of several sports-related projects that Netflix unveiled recently. The platform will also launch a third season of “Full Swing,” which highlights golfers on the PGA Tour, as well as a new set of documentaries under the “Untold” series. Some of the upcoming topics for “Untold” in 2025 include a notorious locker-room gun incident involving Washington Wizards players Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton, the feud and cheating allegations between chess grandmasters Hans Niemann and Magnus Carlsen, and a steroid controversy surrounding a wellness influencer known as the Liver King.

“Aaron Rodgers: Enigma” will chronicle Rodgers’ journey as he recovers from a torn Achilles tendon, which he suffered just four plays into the Jets’ 2023 season. The docuseries aims to delve into both the personal and professional experiences that shaped his career and reputation on and off the field.

The series is produced by Religion of Sports, Skydance Sports, and NFL Films, with executive producers including Gotham Chopra, Ameeth Sankaran, and several others. Netflix has also shared a preview clip from the series, where Rodgers discusses his decision-making process on the field and speaks with Dr. Neal Elattrache, the orthopedic surgeon who performed his Achilles repair.

In addition to “Aaron Rodgers: Enigma,” the upcoming Netflix sports lineup features “Polo,” which spotlights the U.S. Open Polo Championship and its participants, produced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Productions and Boardwalk Pictures. Other projects include “The Comeback,” which covers the 2004 Boston Red Sox’s World Series victory, a scripted series about Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna, and “Rez Ball,” a feature film that had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
