“Unveiling the Darkness: A New Take on ‘Salem’s Lot’ Hits HBO Max”

HBO Max has launched a new adaptation of the classic horror film “Salem’s Lot,” revisiting the chilling tale of a man named Ben Mears who relocates to a small town in Maine haunted by sinister vampires.

The remake premiered on HBO Max on Thursday, October 3. The film carries an R rating due to its depiction of violent content and strong language.

The storyline follows Ben Mears, a writer who returns to his hometown with the intention of crafting a novel. However, his plans are disrupted when he delves into the infamous Marsten House, a location rumored to be cursed. Mears soon uncovers that the mansion’s owner is a vampire who is transforming local residents into a legion of the undead.

Filming for the new version predominantly took place in Massachusetts, providing an authentic New England atmosphere. Key filming locations included:

– Princeton: The production utilized the Princeton Public Library for three days.

Stephen King penned “Salem’s Lot” in 1975, marking it as his second novel following the success of “Carrie.”

The original 1979 film adaptation of “Salem’s Lot” is available for rent on Prime Video and Apple TV, as well as through a subscription on HBO Max.
