Unveiling Season 3 of PBS’s “Beyond the Canvas”: Explore the Intersection of Art and Life!

“BEYOND THE CANVAS,” featuring the finest arts and culture reporting from PBS NEWSHOUR’s CANVAS arts series, is set to premiere its third season. The series explores various themes through artist profiles and personal narrative segments.

The first episode, titled “Art All Around Us,” will debut on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 9:30 p.m. on KPBS 2 and can also be streamed via the PBS app. This episode highlights artists who demonstrate that art permeates every aspect of our lives, showcasing figures ranging from female big wave surfers to trailblazers in Latino baseball.

Subsequent episodes will be available for streaming on the PBS app:

– Episode 2: “Art: Innovated” features innovative artists such as comedian Ziwe, Grammy-winner Arooj Aftab, and Broadway star Andre de Shields, celebrating their creative breakthroughs.

– Episode 3: “Art, To Change The World” delves into art as a social force, spotlighting the perspectives of Academy Award-winning actor Riz Ahmed and renowned portrait photographer Jess T. Dugan.

– Episode 4: “Art, Black Women Lead” honors the significant contributions of Black women to the arts.

– Episode 5: “Art, The Power of Words” explores how writers, poets, and lyricists transform personal experiences into impactful writing, featuring discussions with Brandi Carlile, Louise Erdrich, and Rissi Palmer.
