Apple has announced that iOS 18 will be launched on September 16th, introducing various enhancements for customizing iPhone’s homescreen and lockscreen.
The iOS 18 update offers users the ability to rearrange apps and widgets on their homescreen and modify their appearance. Additionally, Apple is introducing a revamped Control Center and a new password management application, as well as enabling satellite messaging support. Other improvements include new text effects for messages, an updated Photos app, and enhanced organizational tools for the Mail app.
It’s important to note that this update does not encompass the Apple Intelligence features set to debut with the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 16 series. These forthcoming tools will facilitate text rewriting, summarization, and image generation via the AI-powered Image Playground. An upgraded conversational version of Siri will also be included and is expected to be available in the iOS 18.1 public beta launching in October.
In addition, Apple has confirmed that macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2 will also be released on September 16th. macOS Sequoia will feature iPhone mirroring, watchOS 11 will introduce new training capabilities, and visionOS 2 will boast a virtual Mac display in ultrawide format. There has been no announcement regarding tvOS 18 as of yet.
