What is Connections?
The New York Times’ latest daily word game has become a sensation on social media. The game was developed with the help of associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu and is available on both web browsers and mobile devices. Players need to group four words that share a commonality among a set of 16 words in each puzzle.
Each puzzle features four categories comprised of words that can range from book titles to software names, or countries. While many words may appear to fit together, there is only one correct grouping for each set.
If a player successfully guesses all four words in a grouping, those words are removed from the board. Incorrect guesses count as mistakes, and players have a maximum of four mistakes before the game concludes.
Players can rearrange the board to help identify connections more easily. Additionally, each grouping is color-coded, with yellow being the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, players can share their results on social media.
