After a hiatus that began in late September, Spanish-language channels from TelevisaUnivision are making their return to YouTube TV following the successful negotiation of a new deal. This interruption came at a tumultuous time for YouTube TV, as it was also engaged in a public dispute with NBC, resulting in subscribers receiving notifications about the immediate removal of Univision channels due to failed negotiations.
The good news for fans of Spanish-language programming is that YouTube TV and TelevisaUnivision have reached an agreement that will reinstate channels such as Univision, Unimás, TUDN, and Galavisión for subscribers. These channels will be included in both YouTube TV’s Base plan and the Spanish add-on package. Additionally, TelevisaUnivision’s streaming service, Vix, will be integrated into YouTube Primetime Channels, which will also see an expansion into Mexico for the first time.
Moreover, the partnership is set to go beyond just channel availability; reports indicate that TelevisaUnivision will collaborate with YouTube on new initiatives aimed at promoting its content to a wider audience on the main, free YouTube platform, thereby enhancing accessibility and outreach.
While the channels have not yet gone live for subscribers, they are expected to return soon. This development is a positive sign for viewers who appreciate diverse programming options and serve to strengthen YouTube TV’s offerings in the competitive streaming landscape.
