United Airlines is set to enhance its travel experience with new luxury offerings on its Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The airline, based in Chicago, has announced the introduction of the United Polaris Studio, an upgraded suite option within its business class section that promises a variety of high-end amenities designed for travelers who prioritize comfort and exclusivity.
The Polaris Studio suites will feature a range of luxurious perks that include skincare kits, flatbed seating with ottomans, personalized champagne service, and curated dining options. In addition to these amenities, passengers can enjoy enhanced connectivity with wireless charging, Bluetooth options, and large 27-inch screens. Notably, the design of the suites allows for increased privacy with doors and overall dimensions that are 25% larger than standard United Polaris seats.
Furthermore, the Boeing 787-9 will boast a remarkable total of 99 premium seats— the highest among United’s fleet and a leader among U.S. carriers. This includes eight Polaris Studios and 56 standard United Polaris business class seats, which will also receive enhancements such as 19-inch screens and sliding doors to further elevate the travel experience.
The move comes at a time when demand for luxury travel is on the rise, with expectations that this market segment will grow faster than any other in the tourism sector, according to a recent McKinsey & Company report. Andrew Nocella, United’s EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, expressed optimism that these elevated cabins will significantly upgrade international flying experiences.
Scheduled international routes employing the new Boeing aircraft will begin in 2026 from San Francisco to destinations including Singapore and London. United Airlines has confirmed that all its future 787 deliveries will include the United Polaris Studio suites, with about 30 of these aircraft expected to join the fleet by 2027.
Despite recent challenges in the airline industry, including air traffic control outages and a tragic incident involving another U.S. airline, United Airlines is clearly focusing on innovation and luxury as it prepares to capture a growing segment of the travel market. This proactive approach bodes well for both the company and its passengers, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to providing premium travel experiences.
