UFC Vegas 107 has seen another lineup adjustment as the event approaches this Saturday. The organization announced that MarQuel Mederos has been forced to withdraw from his lightweight matchup against Bolaji Oki due to illness. Stepping in for Mederos on short notice is Michael Aswell, who will make his promotional debut against Oki.
Aswell, with a record of 10-2, is looking to secure his second consecutive victory after a comeback win at Fury FC 105 in December. His earlier appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series ended in a narrow split decision defeat to Bogdan Grad in August.
Oki, known as “The Zulu Warrior,” will be making his third appearance in the UFC after achieving a split decision win over Timmy Cuamba in his debut but facing a submission loss to Chris Duncan at UFC Paris last September.
The fight card is headlined by an important flyweight matchup between Erin Blanchfield and Maycee Barber, marking Barber’s return to the octagon after a lengthy break of over 14 months. This event promises to offer exciting bouts that could shape the future landscape of their respective divisions.
This adjustment adds an element of anticipation as both fighters strive to make their marks in the octagon, showcasing the resilience and adaptability of athletes within the UFC.
