An employee at a McDonald’s in Georgia received an unexpected visit from a former president over the weekend, although it wasn’t the leader she assumed.
The encounter occurred when the employee mistook Bill Clinton for Joe Biden, asking, “You Joe? Mr. Joe?” after recognizing Clinton standing in front of the register wearing a USA varsity jacket. She quickly corrected herself, exclaiming, “Bill? Oh my God, hi Bill!” and then stepped out from behind the counter to embrace the former president.
“Take my picture,” she urged excitedly. “This is Bill y’all!” As they smiled together, her colleagues captured the moment on camera.
The now-famous interaction was shared by Clinton’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Angel Ureña, who noted that Clinton was campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris in Georgia and decided to stop by McDonald’s, which he frequented during his own presidential campaigns. In fact, a plaque commemorating his visits was established at a McDonald’s location in Little Rock, Arkansas.
During his recent visit, Clinton spoke at a Democratic campaign office in Columbus, where he emphasized the importance of unity and building connections. He remarked, “Uniting people and being repairers of the breach, as Isaiah says, those are the things that work. Blaming, dividing, demeaning — they get you a bunch of votes at election time, but they don’t work.”
