The Axellerate Aflame Brothers under-21 rugby team is energetically preparing for the highly anticipated Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s tournament, commencing today in Taveuni. The journey from Sigatoka to Narain Jetty in Suva was an important part of their preparations, as they traveled aboard the MV Lady Daya, a vessel from Goundar Shipping, which is also transporting other teams to the tournament.
Team captain Joeli Ratusala expressed gratitude for their safe passage, stating, “Firstly, we would like to thank the Lord for his guidance and protection over us as we journeyed from Sigatoka to Taveuni.” Ratusala, hailing from Wema, Navosa, pointed out his team’s continuous commitment to participating in Fiji Bitter 7s events, and despite a busy rugby calendar this week, they are eager to compete at Wairiki once again.
With 16 teams set to compete, the under-21 tournament promises to deliver fierce competition and thrilling matches. Ratusala reinforced the team’s determination by declaring, “Our aim is to achieve what we set out to do.” As anticipation grows, fans and supporters are hopeful for an exciting exhibition of young talent and sportsmanship during the tournament. The vibrancy of the event not only showcases promising athletes but also fosters community spirit and engagement in rugby across the region.
