The UK is poised for another heatwave this month, with forecasts indicating temperatures could soar to 36°C in parts of the country within days. Following a recent streak of record-breaking heat at the end of June, meteorologists are now predicting a fresh wave of scorching weather.
The latest weather models suggest that the next heatwave may kick off on July 12 in southeast England, with London experiencing highs around 30°C and coastal areas like Brighton reaching similar temperatures. By July 13, temperatures in London could jump to 34°C, while surrounding regions may see readings between 31°C and 33°C.
On July 14, heat levels are expected to peak, with the possibility of reaching 36°C in areas just east of London. Birmingham, meanwhile, might see temperatures around 32°C. Although the heat will persist until July 15, it is projected to slightly drop to about 34°C in Essex and 33°C in London, maintaining high warmth for the region.
This spike in temperature is projected to create a significant anomaly, with areas stretching between London and Birmingham experiencing conditions up to 10°C above average. An official heatwave is declared when temperatures exceed the set threshold for three consecutive days, ranging from 25°C to 28°C across different UK regions.
According to the Met Office, while some areas might experience warmer and humid conditions, there’s also a chance of thundery showers as the weather becomes more changeable. Residents can expect a mix of cloudy spells and warmer days ahead, as the forecast builds towards a dynamic weather pattern.
With summer temperatures rising, this heatwave could encourage outdoor activities and enjoyable gatherings, reinforcing those cherished moments under the sun despite potential weather variability.
