UConn’s Women Extend Winning Streak: What’s Next for the Huskies?

The UConn women’s basketball team continues to impress this season, extending their winning streak to five games with a convincing 71-52 victory over Oregon State during the Baha Mar Women’s Championship held in Nassau, Bahamas. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers led the charge with an impressive 23 points, marking her third game this season scoring 20 or more. She also contributed significantly on both ends of the court, recording six assists and three rebounds.

Freshman Sarah Strong showcased her versatility with 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and an impressive six steals, while redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy added 12 points to the scoreboard. The Huskies started strong, dominating the first quarter by outpacing the Beavers 22-7 and maintained control throughout, leading 42-19 at halftime.

Notably, freshman Allie Ziebell made her impact felt in the second quarter by scoring all seven of her points within that period. Sophomore KK Arnold provided strong defensive support with three steals and five assists. Graduate student Azzi Fudd, participating in her second game in over a year, achieved a personal best by recording five assists and contributing four rebounds.

Looking ahead, UConn will face off against No. 18 Ole Miss in the championship game of the tournament, scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. This promising matchup will be broadcasted on FloCollege and the UConn Sports Network, providing fans with an exciting in-depth experience of their team’s journey.
