UConn Women’s Basketball Shines: Next Challenge Awaits in Championship Showdown!

The UConn women’s basketball team continues its impressive start to the season, defeating Oregon State 71-52 in the Baha Mar Women’s Championship held in Nassau, Bahamas. Led by redshirt senior Paige Bueckers, who scored 23 points, the No. 2 ranked Huskies improved their record to 5-0. This marked Bueckers’ third 20-point game this season, complemented by six assists and three rebounds.

Freshman Sarah Strong contributed significantly with 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and six steals, while redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy added 12 points. The Huskies established a strong lead early, outscoring the Beavers 22-7 in the first quarter and maintaining the momentum to go into halftime with a commanding 42-19 advantage.

Allie Ziebell also made her mark, scoring all seven of her points in the second quarter. On the defensive end, sophomore KK Arnold excelled with three steals and five assists, while graduate student Azzi Fudd, in her second game return after a year-long absence, recorded a career-high five assists along with four rebounds.
