UConn Women’s Basketball Dominates Oregon State, Eyes Championship Glory!

In an impressive display of skill, the No. 2 UConn women’s basketball team secured a decisive victory over Oregon State with a score of 71-52 in the Baha Mar Women’s Championship held in Nassau, Bahamas. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers was the standout player, scoring 23 points, marking her third game of over 20 points this season, and contributing six assists and three rebounds to the team’s success.

Freshman Sarah Strong made a significant impact with a well-rounded performance, tallying 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and an impressive six steals. Redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy added to the score with 12 points. The Huskies dominated the first quarter, outpacing the Beavers 22-7, and went into halftime with a commanding 42-19 lead, aided by Allie Ziebell, who scored all her seven points in the second quarter.

Sophomore KK Arnold showcased her defensive prowess with three steals and five assists, while graduate student Azzi Fudd, playing in her second game in a year, recorded a career-high five assists along with four rebounds.

Looking ahead, the Huskies will face off against No. 18 Ole Miss, who currently holds a record of 4-1, in the championship game on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. This matchup promises to be an exciting challenge for UConn as they continue to build momentum in the season.
