NASSAU, Bahamas – In an impressive display, redshirt senior Paige Bueckers led the No. 2 UConn women’s basketball team (5-0) to a decisive 71-52 victory over Oregon State (1-5) in the Baha Mar Women’s Championship on Monday night. Bueckers showcased her scoring prowess by contributing 23 points, marking her third game of 20 or more points this season, along with six assists and three rebounds.
Freshman Sarah Strong impressed with a well-rounded performance, scoring 13 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and recording two blocks and six steals. Redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy also made her mark, adding 12 points to the team’s total.
UConn dominated the opening quarter, outscoring Oregon State 22-7. Freshman Allie Ziebell contributed significantly to the team’s momentum, scoring all seven of her points in the second quarter, helping the Huskies build a commanding 42-19 lead by halftime.
