UConn Dominates Oregon State: What’s Next for the Huskies?

In a commanding performance, the No. 2 UConn women’s basketball team improved their record to 5-0 by defeating Oregon State 71-52 during the Baha Mar Women’s Championship in Nassau, Bahamas. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers led the charge with 23 points, marking her third game this season with over 20 points, and she contributed six assists and three rebounds to her impressive stat line.

Freshman Sarah Strong also had a notable outing, contributing 13 points along with eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and six steals. Redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy added 12 points to help secure the win. The Huskies jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the Beavers 22-7 in the first quarter, and maintained a strong lead throughout, entering halftime with a 42-19 advantage.

Allie Ziebell showcased her scoring ability, netting all of her seven points in the second quarter. Meanwhile, sophomore KK Arnold made her mark defensively with three steals and five assists, continuing to establish herself as a defensive powerhouse. Graduate student Azzi Fudd, returning from injury, contributed a career-high five assists and four rebounds.

Looking ahead, the Huskies are set to face off against No. 18 Ole Miss, who currently holds a 4-1 record, in the championship game of the tournament on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. This highly anticipated matchup will be broadcast on FloCollege and the UConn Sports Network.
